After seeing the northern Red Sea during a wreck-safari in 2004, it was now going to the reefs in southern Egypt from 2006 June 01-08.
A nightly departure with Hapag-Fly from Frankfurt/Main airport on June 1st led to a landing in the sunny Egyptian town of Marsa Alam.
As our boat, the M/Y Emperor Majesty from Emperor Fleet, had to be cleaned and the food, water and fuel supplies needed to be replenished, our group of 20 was first transfered from the airport to a hotel at the port of Ras Galib.
During the late afternoon we were finally brought to the boat by Zodiac. There we were greeted by Ralf and Mercedes, our dive guides for the coming week.
After a night in the harbor the cruise started in the early morning hours towards the open sea and the coral reefs.
With a first dive to verify the amount of lead and check the equipment, we started into the usual routine of a dive-safari:
sunrise, early-morning-dive, breakfast, morning-dive, lunch, afternoon-dive, coffee-break,
sunset, dinner, night-dive, deco-beer, sleep.
In-between the dives there was always enough time to relax on the sun deck.
I attended 20 of the offered 21 dives during the safari. These took place at the following reefs:

After the final dive of the safari, we had a last night out on the Red Sea before getting back to the port and from there to the airport and ultimately back to Germany.
During the vacation I took many pictures.
This time I used a digital camera Olympus Camedia 5060 WZ in a underwater housing Olympus PT-027.
The following gallery presents a selection of images take on the boat as well as underwater.
Any comment in my guestbook is very much appreciated.
And now have a lot of fun looking at the pictures!
