On 2001 November 03rd an occultation of the planet Saturn by the moon could be observed over Germany.
I documented this rare celestial event in a series of photos.
Dates of the occultation:
Start of the occultation: 21:01:50 UTC
End of the occultation: 22:05:11 UTC
Location: Paul-Baumann-Observatory at Klein-Winternheim, Germany
Optics: 12-inch Meade LX200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope
The following images document the start and the end of the occultation as well as the participating celestial bodies, the moon and Saturn. In addition a picture of the planet Jupiter on the occultation evening is shown.
